The Emmy Supercomputer System is providing high performance computing power for scientists in the North German Supercomputing Alliance (Norddeutscher Verbund für Hoch- und Höchstleistungsrechnen – HLRN) which operates a distributed supercomputer system. Located in Göttingen, Germany in GWDG, the Emmy Supercomputer is one out of two HLRN IV Systems, the second being its sister, Lise Supercomputer in Berlin, Germany.
The users of the Emmy Supercomputer are supported by a transregional and interdisciplinary competence network consisting of application experts.
The Emmy Supercomputer is currently operated as part of the North-German Supercomputing Alliance (HLRN). Consultants from physics and materials science, chemistry and bioinformatics as well as earth system research and engineering sciences provide advice to researchers from Berlin and the other member states of HLRN. The consultants support the efficient implementation of projects in both large-scale computing and data analysis, facilitating innovative research.
The system has been delivered together with Atos/Bull and Intel.
