Chief Operating Officer, Calgary


CoolIT Systems, Inc. is seeking an experienced Chief Operating Officer to join its Calgary team. Working closely with the CEO the COO will be responsible for developing and delivering a strategy and plan for scaling the fulfillment process of a rapidly growing manufacturing business that features a global supply chain.  This position will develop and maintain business process and policy for the efficient operations of the company.  Key priorities include the active management of the manufacturing and operations communications, design of operations KPI metrics while maintaining harmony between finance and operations.  Departmental responsibilities could include Manufacturing, Procurement, Field Service, Facilities Management, Information Systems and Quality.  This position interacts with key internal and external stakeholders and would require an extremely articulate professional with exceptional communication, organizational & presentation skills.

  • Scalable Operation:
    • Set and maintain the processes and policies for the company operations
    • Identify and communicate the vision for supporting corporate growth, and new market opportunities, including potential acquisition opportunities
    • Implement necessary changes to the organization to facilitate its growth
  • Team Building & Leadership:
    • Help build, develop and set goals for an effective and efficient Senior Management Team
    • Identify and implement corporate culture of continuous improvement, integrity, and high-quality service through motivation at all levels
    • Establish and promote cross-divisional teamwork
  • Financial Management:
    • Work collaboratively with the CFO to develop an annual budget that maintains profitability with consideration for the sales forecast variability and intimately understand the capital requirements and constraints.
    • Strive to achieve the approved budget and monitor sales and costs on a monthly basis
    • Recognize and highlight opportunities to reduce costs for increased profitability
  • Information Technology Management:
    • Analyze the current technology infrastructure and scope out the next level of information technology to improve the operational systems, processes and policies in support of organizations mission — specifically, support better management reporting, information flow and management, business process and organizational planning
  • Customer Service and Field Service Organization:
    • Ensure customer satisfaction and focus
    • Build alliances and relationships with current and potential external stakeholders, service providers and partners
    • Promote a customer service attitude throughout the organization to create an appropriate infrastructure to help the company profitably scale operations
    • Guide the strategy and vision for the growing need for Field Service capabilities through both internal and partner organizations.
  • Certification and Compliance:
    • Maintain certification programs and corporate standards
    • Ensure proper governance is in place for tariff and tax burden on the supply chain and finished goods
  • Oversight of Operations:
    • Operating Company Performance
    • Ensure efficiencies in human resource operations
    • Ensure compliance with regulatory authorities
    • Ensure compliance with/of contract, obligations and partnerships
    • Communicate to the CEO on the overall progress of results to the operational and financial plan/budget and provide an analysis of variance and recommendations for improvement


  • Engineering or Advance Business Degree coupled with 10+ years of progressive management experience within a design and manufacturing organization
  • Expertise in re-engineering business process and business analysis
  • A demonstrated commitment to high professional ethical standards in a diverse workplace
  • Management of departmental budgets, contracts and project costs
  • Experience with NetSuite ERP, Arena PLM, SolidWorks and Office 365 would be an asset
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, work with, and develop direct reports and front-line staff during times of change and shifting priorities
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, time-management and multi-tasking skills with the ability to work effectively with peers, managers, executives as well as internal & external customers
  • Strong business and management work experience with the ability to compose corporate correspondence on behalf of management
  • Excellent presentation and strong work ethic at all times
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion
  • Must be a self-starter, critical thinker and problem-solver
