In some sick way, I'm enjoying this because I'm learning a lot about this device Haha yup, youll never learn as much about something as you will if you take it apart. At this point I envy you... Ive been waiting to get my hands on a DDB to take apart.

Anyways, if I do go this route and let's say I find the unit itself to be defective, should I request replacement OR purchase more tubing and an aftermarket pump? This I cant say... personally I would just order the stuff and do it myself. (its fun to tinker and as you see, a great way to learn)

(Why in the world does this interest me so much? Is it the caveman in me that's just so fascinated in it that I want to fix it on my own or what?) HaHaHa... I feel ya there, as a child I had to take everything apart. My parents used to get sooo pissed.... Than 1 day it all changed and my parents started giving me broken things to try fix... Ive always been very interested in the way things work, no better way to get an idea than to rip it apart!! 20+yrs later and I get a call from my parents anytime something is broken.

I used to think "why does this crap interest me so much","why do I need to fix everything"... Than I realized Im just cheap.

OK, an update on my situation.

The noise has miraculously disappeared! Here's my diagnosis: After I topped it off an re-assembled everything, I played around with pump settings. I'm finding that this unit didn't like to run on a low setting (I would put it at the bare minimum when running the pc overnight due to noise and proximity to the bedroom. Not to mention a fiance who would bitch about it incessantly).

So, I lowered the target cooling temp to a constant 40 and voila! Over that past 2 days, the noise has completely disappeared. See, at points of inactivity, I would set the target temp to 50 and Enabled Advance Options with a max temp of 50 and min temp of 30 with max chill power at 65 and min chill power at 45. This caused it to run the fan power around 40%. After a while, that's when I heard the problems start. I don't know the mechanics behind this pump, but from observations, apparently this pump doesn't like to run at the minimum setting for long periods. What that noise could have been, I have no idea, but setting it to a higher speed (it runs between 80% and 90% now) has eliminated my problem.

I will continue to monitor and nudge my fan power down to find a balance to get me lower db from the unit while attempting to avoid this situation. I'll report back if anything changes, but I think I'm good. Thanks to anyone that chimed in. This was a doozy and I was really worried that I would need to drain and investigate. No longer.

Hey jbjtkbw00,

I am glad you got your DDB to work for you. If you should have further trouble with the unit let me know.
