New Unit Running hot 3 Months ago Karma: 0
Hey, i just set up my new i7 930 and x58a-ud3r system in a coolermaster haf 922 case with stock settings for the cpu and I'm seeing temps around 60 degrees idle and 73+ degrees on load. I also replaced the thermal goop on it with as5.

When the system is running, the tubes feel quite warm and the bottom of the rad gets to almost a burning hot. I can't hold my finger there for very long. The top of the rad is usually a decently cool temp, unless i have my cpu at load (when i was benching). I think I will buy some better fans for the unit, but i'd like to know why stock with no overclocking is giving me such heat.

Tonight I am going to reapply the paste and see if that helps, but any help would be great. Also, is there any way to check if the pump is working? at one point the rad was cool but the pipes were hot, so i thought maybe it wasn't circulating properly.

PS, is it better to have the rad pulling air in from outside, or pushing air out.

So i changed out the paste, and its sitting at about 50-52 degrees idle, but it was spiking to a max of 88 or so. So maybe the reapplication of the paste helped a bit, but it still seems to be running hot. The "mesh" or whatever of the radiator is pretty cool , as is the top, but the bottom (where the hoses connect) is still really hot, and the tubes are quite warm. Do you think the pump isnt circulating properly?

I suppose i should note, the fan is on the cpu header, but the pump is simply plugged into the psu using a fan->molex connector because the cord isnt long enough to reach a fan header.

LordV,

I will be sending you and email tomorrow concerning this.

I wish to make sure you are using the correct power inputs for the fan and CPU pump.

I am not sure what settings you have in your BIOS.
